The „Acceptance and Commitment Therapy“ (ACT) from Steven Hayes

„“The single, most remarkable fact of human existence is, how hard it is for human beings, to be happy”“, says Steven Hayes. At the same time, we have developed a way of powerfully demanding being happy. We prevent suffering, pain and grief when possible. We live to a lesser extent in reality as in our ideas of how we would like to have life with regard to ourselves, others and our personal circumstances. We mostly don't particularly like ourselves.

Acceptance Creates Easing of Tension and Gives Power
When we mindfully observe what is, we can accept it. It sounds easy but is one of our most difficult exercises. Hence, we continually gain deep relaxation and strength. It gives us the freedom to consider, at a distance and without assessment, the meaning we give to things. In this manner, we will have a new ability to act – not only in our automatic pathways, but also in accordance with our values.

What's Really In Your Heart?
Consciously chosen Values are an important power source in our lives. Sometimes we reduce ourselves to our weaknesses and symptoms. Independently from these we can live a fulfilled life when we remain true to ourselves and act according to our main values (commitment).
